This past weekend we talked about giving. If you missed it, then you also missed my performance with the band of the Red Hot Chili Peppers song “Give it Away.” No we didn’t tape it….but I do encourage everyone to go and listen to the podcast. I asked everyone who considers 24 to be their church home, to begin (if they are not already) tithing and/or giving. I also talked about the difference between tithing and giving.  This coming Sunday (Dec 7th) we will have cards in the seats that say the following…

Giving Commitment to 24 Church in 2009
I (We) have prayed and feel God leading me (us) to bring my (our) tithes and offerings to the ministry of 24 Church in the year 2009. I (we) sign below to show this commitment to this ministry and our commitment to continue praying that God will use it to use it for the glory of His Kingdom.

This card is something new that we are doing for everyone to have a way to make a formal commitment toward being GREAT managers of the things God is allowing us to oversee. Please be praying about this commitment and what God would have you give.  One of the other things we also covered this past Sunday was what it costs to operate 24 Church in a given month – just the basics (again check out the podcast).  Just so everyone understands, we’re not trying to guilt people into giving, but we want our people to be informed about what is going on at 24, and we earnestly desire for out people to obey God in every area of their lives.
